I really wanted to make it look more doujinshi/manga-like, but I dunno how to do the shading. So now most of it just looks screwed up. Oh, and yes, I know I have to work on hands .__.;

I had my suspicions about Alle's figurine design ever since I saw the thing, but now that I received mine today and put him beside Lockon's, there is no doubt in my mind. XD

This was clearly set up for the fangirls. The hands, the faces, the body language/stances, EVERYTHING. And I am quite pleased and amused with it.

Episode 6, subbed!! TORRENT

I have just seen the coolest thing evar! XDD

NHK airs a weekly ballad concert every Tuesday, and today's featured up and coming artist JERO - a young African American professional enka singer. I'd never heard of this guy before. But wow, what a great debut! (His single "Umiyuki" came out a few months ago).

Enka is a very particular type of Japanese music that tends toward the ballad variety, with very melodramatic lyrics. There really isn't a comparable genre I can think of, although blues might come close? Most of the subject matter deals with being drunk in a bar after getting heartbroken for the dozenth time, lol. It doesn't usually appeal to younger people, so it's pretty cool to see a fresh face like JERO wanting to make it big in the enka industry.

Not only that...JERO fuses hip-hop dancing with enka music! I'm just loving this mix of cultural elements! (It's like the hip-hop samurai in Champloo..)

Quite honestly I've never really liked enka, but I am now a huge, huge fan of JERO. XD ♥

You can check out his performance of Umiyuki here on Youtube. Unfortunately, they don't have tonight's dancing + singing performance up yet, but there's a lower quality dance version of his song here, from what looks like a promotional event (also on Youtube).

... I think I just depressed myself in a major way. I don't see why wanting to take something seriously because I truly enjoy analyzing it makes me elitist. Like, I don't care how sad it is, but thinking through wacky potential plots and psychoanalyzing events/characters to ridiculous degrees is truly and honestly my high. I have no idea how I will live without it. I'm not saying everyone has to view it that way; I just want to remind people that the option is there. I also just don't want people to fight about it.

This is just what I needed to couple with my 2-hour-plus delay in traffic. I think I've made myself sick and have a headache. But I can't sleep yet because I have stuff to do. Yeah, awkwardness.

So this morning the Tony Nominations were announced! I've only worked at three of these in any catgories (I would have worked the Little Mermaid but I was booked for a night already when they called :(), but I'm glad to see Cry-Baby as one of the runners for Best Musical. Even though I think In the Heights will probably take it.

Of the four musicals, I wonder which numbers they're going to perform live at the actual Tony's. Like I mentioned already, the Just A Little Upset jail number was one of my favorites in Cry-Baby, so I am hoping they go for that one. Or at least one of the better ones from the show. Just anything so I can MAKE YOU ALL WATCH IT to see the hotness that is the lead. \o\ As for In the Heights (which is releasing a cast album next month, ooooh), I liked the $96,000 and the Club/Fireworks numbers so I hope they go with either of those.

I am also le'sad that Snyder didn't get nominated for Best Male Lead for musicals for Cry-Baby. ;.; Or any of the cast in those categories (or many categories in GENERAL, but). Bawww.

But yeah, that'd be all! Other than this icon being adorable.

The single of Suga Shikao's NOBODY KNOWS (XXXHOLiC◆Kei Opening Theme) has been released in Japan today.

clamp_now has some nice links to direct download the Special Edition, which contains, apart from the main song, two extra tracks, booklet scans (with illustration drawn by CLAMP), wallpapers and a screen-saver with the anime PV.

It's Suga Shikao, it's good stuff ^_~
